Sarah Briscoe – Adult Ballet Teacher and Founder of Ballet Revival

Sarah trained at The Royal Ballet School, dancing with The Royal Ballet Company whilst at the school and has danced professionally around the world with the English National Ballet Company and also performed with The Phantom of the Opera musical as their lead ballet dancer.

Drawing on her performing experience, she brings a passion and love of dance to the studio. Sarah continues to expand on her teaching skills with regular workshops at the Royal Academy of Dance. She is a fully qualified Sleek Ballet Fitness Instructor, Progressive Ballet Technique Instructor and DDMIX Dance Fitness Instructor and holds qualifications in both Dance Fitness for Adults and Exercise to Music, awarded by EMD Academy, endorsed by The Register of Exercise Professionals and Sport England.

I am excited to be expanding Ballet Revival and welcoming Zara and Steph as new Teachers to the Ballet Revival Team!

Zara Handley – Adult Ballet Teacher

Zara has danced all her life and enrolled on the BA hons Ballet Education degree course at the Royal Academy of Dance, graduating in 2015. Whilst training Zara gained invaluable experience working as a class assistant for several RAD examiners at the RAD Dance school in Battersea and completed a teaching placement with the Dance for Lifelong Wellbeing research team, exploring dance as a tool to aid wellbeing in older adults.

After graduation, she worked as a freelance ballet teacher throughout the Greater London Area. Over this time Zara developed a real love for teaching beginner level students, especially adults and developed her skills through working for Surrey Adult Education Service, covering adult ballet classes at London’s Pineapple Studios and starting an adult ballet class at her own dance school based in Surrey. Zara has danced with Sarah at Ballet Revival in her classes and became her cover teacher shortly after relocating to St. Albans. Zara is thrilled to be officially joining the teaching team at Ballet Revival!

Zara will be teaching Ballet Revival’s new Beginner Level Ballet Classes and will cover certain classes.

Stephanie Leeds – Adult Ballet Teacher

Stephanie trained professionally at The Northern Ballet School in Manchester on their Classical Ballet Course. Whilst there she gained Advanced qualifications in all disciplines: Ballet, Modern and Tap and graduated with a Diploma in Musical Theatre.

She went on to perform in many productions around the world including “Spirit of the Dance” – an Irish Dance show touring South Africa, China, Italy and the UK and “Spirit of Broadway” a Musical Theatre show around the UK, New Zealand and Taiwan. She also performed with Carnival Cruise Lines as a soloist dancer around the Caribbean for two years, danced at The Royal Albert Hall and has featured in a number of trade shows and commercial videos.

Stephanie has qualifications in Teaching Exercise, Movement and Dance to Adults and also Group Training to Music from the EMD Academy, the National Governing Body for group exercise. She is also a fully qualified DDMIX Dance Fitness Instructor.

Stephanie’s first passion has always been Ballet and she is very excited to be joining the Ballet Revival teaching team and share her extensive performance experience and love of ballet.

Stephanie will be covering various classes and will be starting a new class very soon!

Tierney Heap – Guest Teacher

Tierney Heap is a former First Soloist of The Royal Ballet Company. She trained at Elmhurst Ballet School from the age of 11 after winning a Scholarship to attend and then joined The Royal Ballet Upper School aged 15. Whilst training at the School she won a Bronze medal at the 2010 Genée International Ballet Competition.

She graduated from the The Royal Ballet Upper School straight into The Royal Ballet Company in 2012 and was promoted to First Artist in 2016 and then promoted again in the same year to Soloist. She has risen through the ranks of the Company quickly and was promoted again in 2018 to First Soloist.

Tierney’s repertory with the Company includes Carmen, Lilac Fairy, Florestan’s Sister and Fairy of the Enchanted Garden (The Sleeping Beauty), Myrtha (Giselle), Empress Elisabeth (Maylering), Olga (Winter Dreams), The Firebird and roles in The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude, ‘Rubies’ (Jewels), DGV: Danse à grande vitesse, Swan Lake, Don Quixote, Viscera, The Nutcracker, La Bayadère, After the Rain, The Invitation, Multiverse and Carbon Life, Aeternum, The Human Seasons, The Vertiginous Thrill of Exactitude and Dances at a Gathering. She has created roles in Untouchable and Woolf Works. Tierney has taught a number of Workshops for Ballet Revival over the last few years and is excited to become a Guest Teacher and continue to teach further Repertoire Workshops over the coming months.
